Girard Fest 2010 will bring together surrounding neighborhoods and cultural groups to celebrate the diversity and revitalization of Girard Ave.! This September's inaugural event hosts eclectic multi-genre music booked by Philly F/M Fest and The Fire, numerous artists and crafters, the city's best food vendors, family fun, and more! The action takes place on Girard (between Front and 4th Streets), at Crane Arts, and Lehigh Ave., Saturday September 25th, beginning at 11am and ending at 7pm.
The festival's host, Girard Business and Arts Association (GBAA), is a new non-profit comprised of folks interested in making Girard Ave. a great place for people and business. For more information on becoming involved with the festival or GBAA activities email info@girardfest.com
The festival is made possible by the help of Girard Coalition, Inc. and State Representative W. Curtis Thomas. Representative Thomas is the chairman of PA's Urban Affairs Committee and is a champion for community economic development. "Girard Avenue is experiencing growth and economic redevelopment," Thomas said. "I have worked closely with the business community along Girard to help promote foot traffic in the area, and this street festival is just one step, in a series of many, toward that goal."
