Beyond Municipal Borders: A Regional Trail Network EmergesPrint Page

April 19, 2012 - 8:30am - 4:00pm

An impressive regional trail network is emerging across the Pennsylvania Highlands.  For Bucks, Montgomery, Northampton and Lehigh counties, the major “spines” are already in place: the D&L Trail to the east and north, the Schuylkill River Trail to the south and west, and the Perkiomen Trail in the center.  What can we do to connect these spines to the many local trails and communities in between?  This workshop will include a series of panels and presentations on the emerging regional trail network; tools to justify investment in trails in a tough economic climate; and strategies to plan and build trails beyond municipal boundaries.  Trail builder and advocate Bob Thomas (Campbell Thomas Architects) will provide a keynote address.
