NEW POLL SHOWS PHILADELPHIA VOTERS DEMANDING COMMITMENT TO IMPROVE CITY’S ENVIRONMENT
Coalition will release five policy recommendations for candidates to make Philadelphia more livable and sustainable
WHAT: The Next Great City coalition is announcing Next Great City 2, a new agenda with five policy recommendations, aimed at City Council candidates, to help Philadelphia enhance its environmental quality, strengthen its neighborhoods and increase its economic competitiveness.
At the official launch, the Next Great City coalition will reveal its recommendations to Council candidates and voters who have made issues such as energy, waste, transportation, land reuse and food access a priority. Attendees will also hear from pollster Terry Madonna, whose interviews with Philadelphia residents helped form the Next Great City 2 agenda. Madonna will reveal the surprising polling data that led to the policy recommendations. The event will also feature city leaders whose on-the-ground experience helped refine this year’s recommendations.
Following the kick-off, attendees are encouraged to stay for the first of three forums featuring candidates for City Council. The events, sponsored by the Urban Sustainability Forum, will provide candidates of both parties an opportunity to highlight their positions on issues related to the economic and environmental future of Philadelphia.
