Pervious Concrete Pavement: The Answer for Stormwater Runoff

Kenneth Crank, LEED AP

Pennsylvania Aggregates and Concrete Association

Pervious concrete continues to gather momentum as an innovative material whose time has arrived.  Pervious concrete holds promise of aiding builders and developers in their stormwater control and energy conservation.  When pervious concrete is used for parking areas, streets, plazas and walkways it minimizes stormwater runoff to surrounding streams and lakes and allows for the natural filtration to recharge local groundwater supplies.  This presentation will discuss the uses of pervious concrete, applications to LEED standards and current trends in building.
