PHLASH Ending For the Season This Saturday

(Monday, October 26) - The PHLASH trolley service, which provides quick and easy service to and from popular Center City attractions, will end its 2009 service season on Saturday, October 31. That only leaves a few more days for visitors and Philadelphians to use the convenient service to reach virtually any destination in Center City and the Centennial District.

The distinctive purple trolleys operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week, with service every 12 minutes. PHLASH also offers direct connections to all SEPTA and PATCO rail lines.  Discounted parking is available at select garages and lots for those who choose to park only once and ride PHLASH to their destinations throughout the day.

The fare is only $2 dollars each time you board. Individual all-day passes are $5 and all-day family passes for two adults and two children 6-17 years old are $10. Children under five ride free and seniors ride free at all times. Tickets can be purchased at the City Hall Visitor Center, Franklin Square, the Independence Visitor Center (located at 6th and Market Streets), the RiverLink Ferry at Penn's Landing or aboard the trolley.

PHLASH also accepts SEPTA’s new One Day Independence Passes ($10) or One Day Family Independence Passes ($25).  Regular SEPTA riders can use their TransPasses and TrailPasses for an unlimited number of trips on the PHLASH trolleys, as well as on subways, buses, trolleys and trains throughout the region.

The PHLASH is funded by grants from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Federal Highway Administration through PennDOT and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission. It is managed by the Central Philadelphia Transportation Management Association, a subsidiary of the Center City District, who contracts with Philadelphia Trolley Works to provide the service. It is promoted by the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation, Where Philadelphia and VisitPA.com.
