Since the 1980s there have been several attempts at revitalization, but without a long-term strategy and community support, nothing substantive was accomplished. Fast-forward to 2006, when Penn Praxis, part of the University of Pennsylvanias School of Design, led a civic visioning process involving 15 riverfront communities. In 2010 the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation selected a team to develop a new master plan for the central Delaware, which will soon be complete.
