Greensgrow is offering ServSafe® Food Safety Training and Certification to satisfy the Philadelphia Department of Health requirement for Food Service Professionals*. 

 

When: Monday, February 28, 2011

 

Check-in 8:00am (No late arrivals will be admitted after 8:30am.)

 

Exam 5:00-7:00pm 


Where: Coral Street Arts House

Between Hagert & Letterly Streets (9 blocks from Greensgrow Farms).

Accessible via Market Frankford El's Huntingdon Station, bus Routes 5 or 39.  

Free street parking available.  

 

 

Cost: $175 per person includes course book for home study, instructor-led training, practice test, exam, and locally sourced lunch. 


Deadline: Registration form [see attached pdf] and payment must be received by 4pm Fri, Feb 11th, when books will be ordered.  Class size is limited.

 

This course requires 8 hours of home study, and 8 hours of in-class training on the test day.  Participants will be notified by email or phone when course materials must be picked up at Greensgrow, approx 7-10 days prior to class.

*Per Philadelphia Code: During hours when food is being prepared, manufactured, cooked, processed, dressed, served or distributed, every food establishment that sells potentially hazardous food must have a certified manager present. Multiple certified individuals may be required for establishments that have operating hours that extend beyond a single work shift or include a 6-7 day work week.  Certificates must be renewed every 5 years.  

 

 

The ServSafe® Food Safety Training Program is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP). ServSafe training and certification is recognized by more federal, state and local jurisdictions than any other food safety certification. 

 

 

Chef Instructor Chris Koch is a nationally recognized Food Stylist, Culinary Educator, Product Demonstrator, Cookbook Author, TV Personality, and 1st degree Black Belt.  He is a ServSafe® certified instructor who teaches at Drexel University, as well as Greensgrow Farms' LIFE and high school programs.
