Sliding Doors for ExitingPrint Page

May 5, 2011 - 12:00pm - 1:00pm

Over the past 20 years, all of the model building codes have been changed to allow certain complying horizontal sliding doors to be used in selected applications in a means of egress. These changes affect the basic requirement for doors used for exiting which have been the foundation for means of egress design for most of this century. This seminar addresses the basic performance requirements for sliding doors to be used for exit purposes and identifies allowable applications in each of the model codes. The participants will gain knowledge on the various applications in which a horizontal sliding fire door can be used, the available door configurations, the options that can be included with a horizontal sliding fire door, and how to save owners money.
