With more than 500 different municipalities, how can our tri-state area weave together a regional plan to foster growth and sustainability? Find out at “Building a Sustainable Region,” our 8th annual suburban/regional forum, happening on Tuesday, February 23 at The Union League. We have confirmed a terrific lineup of speakers: Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter, on the new Metropolitan Caucus, a coalition of regional leadership for Greater Philadelphia; The Honorable James Hovland, Co-Chair, Regional Council of Mayors (Minnesota) and Mayor of the City of Edina (Mayor Hovland will also serve as Moderator); Deborah Brett, Principal, Deborah L. Brett & Associates, co-author of “Global Demographics and Real Estate 2009: Shaping Real Estate’s Future; Howard Neukrug, Director of the Office of Watersheds, Philadelphia Water Department; and Marion M. Coker, Manager of Strategic Business Planning and Sustainability for SEPTA). The forum will start at 7:30am with registration, breakfast and networking, with the forum to follow from 8:15-10:30am including audience participation. We’ll be offering continuing education credits on-site for AICP (planners), CLE (legal); AIA (architects); and CE (Real Estate Brokers/Sales). You can now register online for this program at www.philadelphia.uli.org or by phone at 800-321-5011.
