Unveiling of the first Tidal Delaware Water Trail sign

November 7, 2009 10:15am - 12:00pm

The Pennsylvania Environmental Council invites you to celebrate the unveiling of the first Tidal Delaware Water Trail sign!

Join PEC and others on Saturday, November 7th at 10:15 a.m. at the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s Frankford Arsenal Boat Launch in North Philadelphia as we unveil the sign.  This is the first of several water trail signs being installed at launch sites along the Tidal Delaware Water Trail. This site is particularly important because of its proximity to the North Delaware Riverfront Greenway, which will begin construction next spring, and will bring additional users to the area.

Then, in cooperation with the Delaware River City Corporation, students from Franklin Towne Charter School will participate in a clean-up at the boat launch, removing debris that gets caught along the shoreline as the tide comes in. The clean-up is supported by funding from DuPont’s Clear Into the Future Program.

This unveiling ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate our collaborative efforts to enhance the boating experience on the river. It’s also a chance to acknowledge your organization for the work you’ve done to help make this water trail possible.

The Tidal Delaware Water Trail is a newly designated trail by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. One of about 20 water trails statewide, the Tidal Delaware Water Trail provides a unique boating experience that captures the region’s urban flavor and natural beauty. The newly installed sign - created with funding from PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and DuPont - guides motor boaters, sailors and paddlers to nearby amenities and safety considerations, and provides interpretive information on the river’s unique cultural and ecological attractions.
