UPDATE: PennPraxis, PlanPhilly and the Daily News Present a Discussion on Zoning ReformPrint Page

September 20, 2011 - 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Zoning Reform Discussion

Hosted by PennPraxis, PlanPhilly and the Daily News

There have been important developments for zoning reform this month, including the resumption of hearings in City Council on Wednesday, September 14th, and the distribution last week of a memo by Councilman Bill Green calling for amendments to the zoning reform bill.

To discuss these developments, PennPraxis has scheduled the public information forum for next Tuesday, September 20th, 6:30pm – 8:30pm at the Inquirer and Daily News Building, 400 North Broad Street in Philadelphia.

JUST ANNOUNCED: Fifth District Councilman Darrell Clarke will now be participating in the discussion as well!

The event will be co-hosted by the Daily News Editorial Page and PlanPhilly with the following agenda:

  • 6:00pm: Registration and light refreshments
  • 6:30pm: Welcome, Sandy Shea, Editor of the Editorial Page, Daily News
  • 6:40pm: Framing the Issue, Alan Greenberger, Deputy Mayor, Planning and Economic Development, City of Philadelphia
  • 7:00pm: Moderated panel discussion with Councilmen Clarke, DiCicco and Green, joined by Greenberger and taking questions from the audience.  Moderated by Harris Steinberg, executive director, PennPraxis.

It’s particularly exciting to have the participation of Councilmembers while that body is actively considering reform.  Hearing their sense of the reform code and process in a more informal setting than Council Chambers or the Zoning Code Commission will be important in advancing our understanding of where we are in the process and what key issues still need to be resolved.  The forum will also help our media partners at PlanPhilly and the Daily News increase public awareness of the issue as it progresses through Council and the ZCC this fall.

Light refreshments will be provided.
