How can we get microgrids in American downtowns? How can the federal government help?

On Tuesday, June 14, the Penn Institute for Urban Research, Viridity Energy and the Center City District present "Urban Smart Grid and Energy Innovation," a panel discussion featuring Federal Energy Regulatory Commission chairman Jon Wellinghoff at the Academy of Natural Sciences. The event will examine the latest and greatest in energy innovation, and an all-star panel will discuss what's being done in U.S. cities already, and what needs to be done to improve energy use. The event is presented as a part of the Academy of Natural Sciences' Town Square/Center for Environmental Policy Series. Panelists include Brewster McCracken, executive director of Austin's Pecan Street Project; Audrey Zibelman, president and CEO of Philadelphia's Viridity Energy; and Sara C. Bronin, co-director of the Center for Energy & Environmental Law at the University of Connecticut School of Law. A cocktail reception follows.
