The Willows Cottage is on the campus of the Willows Mansion in Villanova, and once served as the gate house for the estate, which is now the Willows Park in Radnor Township. The structure was slated to be demolished in 2008, when a group called the Friends of the Willows Cottage organized an effort to preserve the structure. Today, as a successful recipient of a Pennsylvania Conservation Works energy-efficiency grant, the Willows Cottage sustainable renovations are taking place to convert this historic building into a site for sustainability education in the community.
On Thursday, August 12th, 2010, from 5:30 to approximately 7:30, the Delaware Valley Green Building Council will host a Meet & Mingle at this location. During the event, guests will have the opportunity to watch a demonstration of the drilling of the geothermal wells that are being installed at the Willows Cottage, and representatives from the companies doing the installation will share their knowledge of technology and trends in geothermal energy.
This is an exciting opportunity to meet and mingle with members of the DVGBC, to investigate becoming a member yourself, if you are not already a member of this active organization, and to see sustainable building in action.
