PlanPhilly: Planning Philadelphia's Future

What will Philadelphia look and feel like in 2035? With Philadelphia embarking on its first new Zoning Code and Comprehensive Plan in 50 years, our 8th annual urban issues forum on September 23 will help you navigate the road ahead – how it will impact development, if it will support high quality bankable projects, and how the real estate community can participate in planning and zoning reform.

Registration is now open for this breakfast forum presented with title sponsors Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Cozen O’Connor. Location is the Union League from 8-10am. This once-in-a-generation opportunity will enable ULI members and guests to provide input into the values, priorities, and tools that guide long-term investment. Confirmed speakers are Peter Kelsen, Vice Chair of the Zoning Code Commission and partner, Blank Rome; Alan Urek, Director, Strategic Planning and Policy Division, Philadelphia City Planning Commission, heading up the "Philadelphia2035" initiative; Bart Blatstein, President of Tower Investments, developer of the Piazza at Schmidt’s, on how neighborhood development will happen – or not; and Farah Jimenez, Chief Executive Officer, People’s Emergency Center, on how CDCs and neighborhood groups will fare in the new environment. Moderator will be John D. Landis, Crossways Professor of City and Regional Planning and Department Chair, the University of Pennsylvania. This event is hosted by the Urban Land Institute.
