Please join the AIA Practice Management Committee for a conversation with Raphael Sperry, Director, Alternatives to Incarceration/Prison Design Boycott  Architects/Designers/Planners for Social Responsibility (ADPSR). Mr. Sperry will be discussing ADPSR's proposed amendment to the AIA's Code of Professional Conduct to prohibit the design of spaces intended for execution or for long term solitary confinement. The topic raises broader questions related to the ethical practice of architecture such as:

-Are some buildings "bad buildings" and if so what do we do about them and where do we draw the line?

-When does the architectural profession take a collective position on ethical issues rather than leaving it up to the individual architect to decide?

-Do architects have a positive obligation to address fundamental human rights  via our practices? Please join us for this lunchtime discussion.

Mr. Sperry will be giving a lecture  this evening at 6:00 pm at Temple University, Tyler School of Art  entitled "bad buildings-when architecture crosses the line".
