Preservation Rooftop Crawl

    • phpgvj4nr
As summer winds down, join us up on the roofs of two Preservation Achievement Award Winners for a special Wednesday evening tour and reception!

Our Center City “preservation rooftop crawl” begins at the Versailles, the Beaux Arts jewel designed by Frederick Webber rising 15 stories from the corner of 16th and Locust. Ascend to its rooftop lounge and open deck, formerly the mechanical penthouse, and hear from members of the project team how this elegant 1921 high-rise was renovated for modern residences.

Then head around the block— and a few stories up— to the heights of Art Deco at the Icon. Completed in 1930, the Icon at 1616 Walnut contains some of Philadelphia’s finest early Modern interiors, including a penthouse pied-a-terre originally occupied by Sun Oil Company president Joseph Pew. From the richly ornamented lobby take the restored elevator cabs to the building’s Sky Deck, where architect Kevin Michals, of Cross Properties, will speak on the building’s history and conversion to luxury apartments.

WINE AND CHEESE RECEPTION TO FOLLOW.

Meet at The Versailles, 1530 Locust St, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
