ABOUT THE CELEBRATION
Join the Association for Public Art (aPA) and head to 22nd Street and the Benjmain Franklin Parkway for the world premiere of "Cai Guo-Qiang: Fireflies" on Thursday, September 14. This FREE event will feature a one-time-only public performance directed by the artist with hundreds of luminous, colorful lanterns attached to 27 pedicabs gliding along the Parkway.
Remarks and performance at 7:30PM. Food trucks will be on site.

"Cai Guo-Qiang: Fireflies" is a major public artwork for Philadelphia by Cai Guo-Qiang, commissioned by the Association for Public Art with Fung Collaboratives on the occasion of the centennial of the Parkway. Twenty-seven customized pedicabs with hundreds of luminous colorful lanterns will traverse the Parkway at night, drawing on memories of the traditional lantern festivals of the artist’s childhood.
TAKE A RIDE
Free rides in "Fireflies" will begin on Friday, September 15th, with one-way trips from Iroquois Park to Sister Cities Park and Sister Cities Park to Iroquois Park. Walk-ups are welcome and online reservations will be available.
