Horace Trumbauer's 1918 Beneficial Savings building at 12th and Chestnut had a single occupant for its first century. Now it is home to Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline Institute of Trial Advocacy, recipient of a 2018 Preservation Achievement Award. Join us for a special tour to welcome this downtown landmark into its second century and celebrate its award-winning adaptive reuse.

Project architect Jay Tackett will guide our walk through the building. Among the highlights of the project’s interior are the restored marble floors, bronze multi-story windows, pendant chandeliers, and impressive coffered ceiling. Outfitting the former bank headquarters with practice courtrooms posed several acoustical challenges. We will hear how the design team employed a 3-story glass curtain wall, electronic switchable glass, and many other inventive techniques to create quiet courtroom spaces while preserving the architectural volume and character of the Main Hall.

Wine and cheese reception to follow.
