September 23-25: Public Lands | Popped | Fall Garden Festival | College Day

POPPED! Music Festival
Temple University's Liacouras Center [VENUE CHANGE], 1776 N. Broad Street. Friday and Saturday, September 23-24.  Due to a really wet forecast, the POPPED! Music Festival has changed venues from FDR Park to the Liacouras Center. Friday highlights include The Shins, The Hold Steady, Panda Bear and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart; Saturday is headlined by Pretty Lights and Girl Talk, along with sets from DJ ?uestlove, Mates of State, The Budos Band and so many more. Festival's food bazaar is cancelled, but could be rescheduled. Single day pass $59.50 in advance or $65 day-of show.
National Public Lands Day
Various Sites, Saturday, September 24. National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands. Public lands include city and county property as well as lands owned by the federal or state governments. In Philadelphia, volunteers can plant fall vegetation at the Liberty Bell Center, and work in the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge or Wissahickon Valley Park.
PHS Fall Garden Festival
Philadelphia Navy Yard Parade Grounds, Saturday, September 24, 11am-4pm. Rain or shine, the PHS Fall Garden Festival promises something for everyone. Kids can build and race edible cars, gardeners will compete for the basket of the loveliest produce arrangement, shoppers can buy plants and garden accessories, PHS Young Friends will host a Biergarten and lawn games, and the winners of the City Gardens Contest will be announced. Free.
College Day 2011
Sites citywide, Starts at 10am. Campus Philly hosts a citywide welcome for Philadelphia's student population. Starting at 10am students can get into museums free with their college ID and get discounts all over the city. Special buses run between sites in the Parkway Museums District, Old City, and Rittenhouse Square.
