Newsworks previews LOOK! on Lancaster Avenue, a new set of art installations in and on vacant storefronts along the Avenue. LOOK! officially opens tonight.

PAFA’s Lenfest Plaza officially opens this weekend, and JoAnn Greco has a review for PlanPhilly. The plaza’s Paintbrush Torch, by Claes Oldenburg, will be lit for the first time. The Paintbrush Torch is the Oldenburg’s fourth work installed in Philadelphia – PhillyHistory looks at the murky origins of his first, the Clothespin.

Brooklyn-based art and design collective 3rd Ward announced it is starting a Philly outpost, the New York Times Artsbeat blog reports. By this time next year they’ll have converted three buildings at North 4th Street and Girard Avenue into workshops and studios for wood and metal work, jewelry making and textiles, laser cutting and circuitry, cooking and co-working.
