Urbanized screening at Drexel on November 3

Director Gary Hustwit has been touring the world, screening new documentary, Urbanized, and he’s bringing his newest design doc to Drexel University next Thursday.

After looking at a font (Helvetica) and industrial design (Objectified), Hustwit investigates the ways cities are designed in Urbanized, the third documentary in his design trilogy. He examines the ways design affects urban life, who makes design decisions about cities and for whom. Moreover, as the world's population is becoming increasingly urbanized, what will the future of urban life look like? To answer these questions the film looks at urban design projects around the globe, and interviews some of the world's foremost designers and thinkers (including Jan Gehl, Amanda Burden, Rem Koolhaas, James Corner, Enrique Peñalosa, Sir Norman Foster, and Bruce Katz) as well as citizens who have driven urban change in their own cities.

Urbanized will screen at 6:30pm and 9pm on Thursday, November 3, at Drexel University’s Mitchell Auditorium, 3141 Chestnut Street. Tickets cost $15 or $13 for AIGA/ISDA/AIA members, Urbanized Kickstarter backers, and students. Purchase advance tickets online.

Lucky you, Eyes on the Street scored tickets to give away to see the 9pm screening of Urbanized on Thursday. Email with “Urbanize ME” in the subject line. Winners will be selected on Monday.
