SEPTA open house 12/14 on possible crosstown bus route

SEPTA is hosting an informational open house on Wednesday  to discuss the possibility of creating direct bus service from southeast Philadelphia to western parts of Center City.

Currently riders from southeast Philadelphia have to transfer to another line to reach Center City offices west of Broad Street. But as previously reported here, Center City District, Mayor’s Office of Transportation and Utilities, and SEPTA are exploring the demand for a crosstown bus route. Currently, they are surveying people who commute from eastern South Philly to the western parts of Center City to get a better idea of their commuting patterns.

No new route is planned yet. But SEPTA staff will present the idea for a crosstown route at an open house tomorrow, Wednesday, December 14, from noon-1:30pm and 6-7:30pm  in the SEPTA Board Room, at the Mezzanine of 1234 Market Street.
