Onion Flats talks The Ridge, delayed Silverliner Vs, pedestrian plaza grants, Brandywine development at 1919 Market and maybe Cira

Onion Flats will take their environmentally-sensitive design to the next level at The Ridge, the former Ravage Ballroom site in East Falls. Amy Z. Quinn caught up with Tim McDonald from Onion Flats for NewsWorks/PlanPhilly, talking shop about the project’s scale, energy-independent design, context, contemporary aesthetic, and connectivity. The Redevelopment Authority selected Onion Flats for the project in early December, and work could begin in early 2013.

Delivery of Seta’s 120 new Silverliner V railcars is a year behind schedule, the Daily News learns that suppliers have been in part to blame for the slow rollout. There are 43 new Silerliner Vs in service currently, and 11 currently being tested should hit the rails by March.

Philly will get four new pedestrian plazas next year thanks grants from the Mayor’s Office of Transportation and Utilities to University City District, South Street Headhouse District, and Ogontz Avenue Revitalization Corporation. The Naked City reports MOTU will start outreach with the neighborhood partners to solicit public input in early 2012.

Is Brandywine Realty Trust about to make some major real estate moves thanks to $1.2 billion in new bank financing. The Business Journal reports the new financing could help Brandywine kick off construction of residential development at 1919 Market and maybe at the Cira site near 30th Street Station.
