Zoe Strauss: 10 Years, Green Roofs 101, electronics recycling, heirlooms workshop

Zoe Strauss: 10 Years
Opens Saturday, January 14. Philadelphia Museum of Art, 26th Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway. A mid-career retrospective for Philadelphia photographer Zoe Strauss, reflecting on her annual Under I-95 exhibitions and  her photography of down, but not necessarily out, American people and places. The opening night dance party is sold out, but on Monday admission is pay-what-you-want. Free after museum admission.
Electronics Collection
Saturday, January 14, 10am-2pm. Under I-95 at Front St. and Washington Ave (next to Rizzo Rink). Queen Village Neighbors Association invites you to recycle household electronics, including computers, printers, microwaves, air-conditioners, metals and small appliances. Collected electronics will be recycled by e-Force Compliance, Philadelphia's only R2 certified e-waste recycler. Small business owners with less than 50 employees are also encouraged to participate.
Green Roofs 101
Saturday, January 14, 9-11am. Fairmount Park Horticultural Center, N. Horticultural and Montgomery Drive. Talk green roofs with Stephanie Alarcon, a Penn State Extension Philadelphia Master Gardener, at a weekend workshop. The event will introduce beginners to fundamental issues in planning a green roof, including an overview of structural requirements, green roof components, examples of pre-fab systems, popular plant choices, and experts to contact in the area. $10 registration fee.
Heirlooms Workshop
Saturday, January 14, 1-4pm. Stenton, 4601 N. 18th Street.  Join Kory Berrett and Dr. Patricia Keller of Berrett Conservation Studio for a workshop about incorporating family heirlooms into genealogical research, as well as proper care. $15, or $10 for Friends of Stenton.
