Art after 5: Philadelphia Dance Party

Friday, January 20, 5pm. Philadelphia Musuem of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Yes, the dance party kicking off the exhibition Zoe Strauss: Ten Years sold out, but there are three other dance parties planned. The first is a Philly dance party with DJs King Britt and Jerry Blavat. Free with museum admission.

Space Savers Project

Reception Friday, January 20, 5-8pm. Breadboard, 3600 Market Street. What if our city’s rarified practice of saving parking spaces with folding chairs and construction cones could be more artful? The Space Savers Project turns recycled bits of junk into artistic works interpreting the personal statements and social tension embedded in space saving.

Chinese New Year Celebrations: Flower Market and Lion Dance Parade

Saturday, January 21 and Sunday, January 22. 10th and Vine streets. Celebrate the Year of the Dragon this weekend. Philly’s first New Year’s Flower Market, representing growth and change, takes place Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm. There are two a Lion Dance Parades on Sunday: one in the afternoon starting at 10th and Race at 11:20am and another to herald the New Year’s arrival at 11:15pm. Free
