People like to think of the Parkway as the start of Fairmount Park, a piece of nature grafted into the city. A pair of Red-tailed Hawks think Logan Square makes mighty fine habitat to raise a family.

The hawks have been nesting on a third-floor windowsill overlooking Logan Square since 2009. And not long after they arrived The Franklin Institute set up a webcam to watch the pair nest and their offspring hatch.

The excitement begins in March - three eggs are already in the nest this year - and continues through June when fledglings leave the nest. Stay tuned for an April hatching.

This spring is the fourth year running that Philadelphians can watch the cycle online. There's also a blog for truly avid hawkwatchers to follow along in extreme detail.
