Suitors for the Divine Lorraine | PA's high marks for green jobs | art on wheels | school closings and architectural history | bike sharing in Philly

  • William Levering Elementary School in Roxborough (1895) is the oldest of the nine schools slated for closure. 


The three developers interested in the Divine Lorraine are Turchi, Pennrose, and EB Realty, reports the Inquirer. Turchi was the unnamed developer that had an option on the property earlier this year. Pennrose has tried to purchase the Divine Lorraine before and EB Realty owned the property for a time during the last decade.

Pennsylvania is one of the top five states for green jobs according to a new report by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. But NewsWorks reports that the loss of incentives that spurred growth in solar and wind industries could mean that ranking is short-lived.

Fleisher Art Memorial’s new mobile art studio – a Ford van called Color Wheels – launched this weekend. The Inquirer reports that the new art-mobile will help Fleisher’s free and low-cost art programs reach more people. The Wallace Foundation and PNC Arts Alive Initiative provided grant funding for Color Wheels.

The School Reform Commission will vote on the closures this Thursday (3/28).
