Garden Tenders community garden training sessions start Wednesday (3/28)

Have the itch to start a community garden in your neighborhood? Curious about where to begin and how to make sure your garden grows strong? The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Philadelphia Green program is offering its 6-session Garden Tenders course for would-be community gardeners beginning Wednesday, March 28.

The Garden Tenders course is geared at helping groups or individuals establish self-sustaining community gardens in the city. Participants will get basic instruction in planting and maintenance, learn tips about engaging volunteers, and get technical information about site identification and permissions.

The Garden Tenders training course will be on Wednesdays March 28-April 18, April 25-May 9 from 5:30-8:30pm at PHS (100 N. 20th Street) There’s also an optional Saturday tour on April 14 from 10am-1pm. The course fee is $25 and is payable online.
