Sculpture Flashlight Mob takes Parkway tonight

I love what the Fairmount Park Art Association (FPAA) is up to with its Site Seeing programs, geared at getting folks out to see the city’s public art anew.

Tonight’s FPAA is hosting a Sculpture Flashlight Mob at Mark di Suervo’s Iroquois sculpture. The event is all about literally seeing this Parkway sculpture in a new light.

“We’ve chosen this piece for a reason,” Penny Balkin Bach, FPAA’s executive director, told PlanPhilly’s JoAnn Greco. “Its shape invites onlookers to explore it from different sides — di Suvero intended that.” The bring-your-own-flashlight evening is just another way of “encouraging people to look more closely at the work,” Bach adds.

Curious? Head over to 24th and Pennsylvania Avenue from 8:30-10pm with flashlight in hand to shine at Iroquois.
