Astronomy Night

Friday, April 27, 8pm. 20 locations. As part of the Philadelphia Science Festival, Astronomy Night is back at more than 20 venues in and around Philly, including the Franklin Institue, Penn, the Awbury Arboretum, Bartram’s Garden, and Laurel Hill Cemetery. Take in the night skies with astronomy enthusiasts on what promises to be a cool but clear night.

Fishtown Shadfest

Saturday, April 28, noon-6pm. Penn Treaty Park, Delaware Avenue and Marlborough Street. It’s Shadfest time again. Head to Fishtown’s Penn Treaty Park to celebrate spring, the Delaware River, and Fishtown history with live music, arts and crafts vendors, kid’s activities, environmental education and more. Register in advance for the Kenzinger Challenge Run, a 3-mile long non-competitive scavenger adventure. The run costs $20; participants must be 21+, register through Friday.

Flavors of the Avenue

Saturday, April 28, noon-4pm. East Passyunk Avenue. Back for the sixth year running, sample the best of 21 East Passyunk Avenue restaurants in the Flavors tent and the street festival with live music and crafters beyond. Proceeds from the festival support the East Passyunk Avenue BID’s public safety program. $50 for VIP access, including a VIP hour form 12-1pm, are available at the event on a first come first served basis; $30 general admission from 1-4pm (incl. wine and beer); Pick up or purchase tickets at the Food Tent starting at 11:30am on East Passyunk between Tasker and Morris.

Fairmount Arts Crawl

Sunday, April 29, 2-6pm. 40+ venues in and around Fairmount Avenue. Cruise Fairmount Avenue this Sunday to take in local art and food, enjoy a new “Artist Alley,” meet the new Fairmount Artist Network, and pop in to more than 40 businesses-turned-art-venues to check out installations. Plan ahead with this handy brochure.
