South Street Bridge illumination preview

I was recently informed by the Streets Department that we shouldn’t expect to see the South Street Bridge’s light towers illuminated until late summer. But today the electricians must have been testing the LED lighting, offering morning commuters a little preview. I was walking through Penn Park when I thought, the lanterns look especially green today. Next thing I knew, they were blue.

Here’s the view from the Weave Bridge.

As previously reported on Eyes on the Street, electricians were hard at work on the light towers last fall, but problems with the lights delayed the project. PlanPhilly reported an earlier light testing in December.
