Lower Northeast District Plan Meeting

Tuesday, June 12, 6:30-8:30pm. St. Martin of Tours School, 5450 Roosevelt Boulevard. At the second district planning meeting for the Lower Northeast planners will discuss public input from the first meeting and present draft recommendations for the Lower Northeast District Plan. This district includes the neighborhoods of Lawncrest, Summerdale, Northwood, Frankford, and Oxford Circle.

Turning the Page for Change

Tuesday, June 12, 4:30-7pm. University of the Arts, Dorrance Hamilton Hall, 320 S. Broad Street. The Public School Notebook’s annual end-of-the-school-year bash brings together hundreds of the city’s public education boosters to support the Notebook’s important work and the broader effort to advocate for quality and fairness in the city’s public school system. Tickets start at $60 ($25 for those under 25) and may be purchased online.

New Questions for an Old Planet: Paul Ehrlich

Thursday, June 14, 6-8:30pm. Academy of Natural Sciences, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Stanford Professor Paul Ehrlich, an ecologist and population expert, will discuss the environmental and social impacts of Earth’s carrying capacity, as well as potential solutions to this strain. $15, tickets my be purchased online.

Schuylkill Banks Movie Night: The Muppets

Thursday, June 14, 8:30-10:30 pm. Schuylkill Banks at the Walnut Street Bridge. The summer movie series is back at Schuylkill Banks Thursday night with a screening of The Muppets at dusk. There will be a raffle with prizes from Philadelphia Runner, and refreshments (first-come, first-served) provided by Dranoff Properties. Free.
