SS United States 60th Anniversary Celebration

Friday, June 15, 6:30-9pm. Independence Seaport Museum, 211 South Christopher Columbus Blvd. The SS United States Conservancy is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the ship’s maiden voyage on Friday night complete with a raffle, refreshments, and a special lighting of the ship’s funnels at 9:30pm. Tickets start at $30 ($25 for members) and may be purchased online.

Bloomsday

Saturday, June 16, Noon-7pm. The Rosenbach Museum and Library, 2000 block of Delancey Place. Outside the Rosenbach Museum join James Joyce enthusiasts for public readings of Ulysses on “Bloomsday,” June 16, the day Leopold Bloom makes his odyssey through Dublin.

Commotion Kickoff

Saturday, June 16, 5-7pm. Zion Hill Memorial Baptist Church, S. 27th and Ellsworth streets. Commotion, a six-month participatory percent-for-art project, culminates with two weeks of events this month. At the Commotion kickoff, spend time with interactive art projects – listening to Bowerbird’s Sound Places and touring Grays Ferry, Point Breese and South of South in John JH Phillips’ Video Wagon – and get a free copy of Tim Fitts’ 46-45 Verandering graphic art book. Free.
