Steamy Cinema Series: Dirty Dancing

Wednesday, July 18, 6pm reception, 7pm film. National Museum of American Jewish History, 101 South Independence Mall East. As part of this month’s Steamy Cinema Series, see Dirty Dancing, a classic summer movie set at a Jewish resort in the Catskills, starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Dirty Dancing turns 25 this year. Come early for the reception at 6pm on the 5th floor and take in the view from the outdoor terrace. $10, $8 for members.

Water Balloon Fight

Wednesday, July 18, 7pm. Drexel University, lawn outside DAC gym, 33rd Street and Lancaster Walk. Cool off during this perpetual heat wave with a massive dodgeball-style water balloon fight organized by Urban Playground. BYO water balloons to add to the arsenal. Free.

Thursday, July 19, 5-7pm. Independence Seaport Museum, Penn’s Landing at Walnut Street. Join PlanPhilly, Simon & Schuster and the Independence Seaport Museum for a conversation with historian (and PlanPhilly contributor) Steven Ujifusa about his new book, A Man and His Ship, which traces the story of the S.S.
