First Round to UCity | 42nd and Woodland plaza update | NJ reps boycott DRPA meeting | SEPTA signage fail | DiNic’s rules

First Round Capital, a major early-stage venture capital firm, is relocating from Conshohocken to the former bowling alley at 40th and Locust, reports Technically Philly. In its new 10,000sf space First Round is also making room to house a cluster of the startups it funds as well as Technically Philly itself. City Council’s recent tax break for the general partners of investment funds helped entice First Round to move, said First Round’s Josh Kopelman.

The new pedestrian plaza at 42nd and Woodland is taking shape and will officially open September 19. Naked Philly takes a peek at the plaza’s progress to date and shows off designs that feature salvaged wood benches (logs from the Woodlands) and planters (planks from a house) as well as movable seating and umbrellas.

New Jersey board members of the Delaware River Port Authority boycotted Wednesday’s meeting, apparently protesting a hastily recommended raise for an executive hired to be the authority’s financial watchdog, reports the Inquirer. Nonunion DRPA employees and police have not had raises in years, and New Jersey representatives evidently felt the raise sent the wrong message.

Hey SEPTA, posting a notice for wheelchair-bound customers in a station area that’s inaccessible via wheelchairs might not work. Cheezburger’s FAIL blog gives SEPTA a moment in the sun.

DiNic’s roast pork sandwich was crowned the best in the nation. Well, yes.
