Meet Christine Fisher

By now devoted readers know Christine Fisher’s byline from a variety of PlanPhilly and Eyes on the Street pieces over the last year. And now we’re happy to announce that Christine has officially joined the PlanPhilly family as a reporter.

We’ve worked with Christine since fall 2011 when she was one of our student interns from Temple University’s Philadelphia Neighborhoods website. Her reporting on the Housing Authority’s surplus property auctions for PlanPhilly/Philadelphia Neighborhoods earned an award from the Society of Professional Journalists. Christine graduated from Temple this spring with a degree in journalism and a minor in geography and urban studies, and we’re delighted to welcome her back to PlanPhilly.

Christine’s primary focus will be transportation. So far Christine has been teased that she only writes about bridges, but the world of transportation is wide and you can expect her to write about lots more: pedestrian amenities, bike infrastructure, trail networks, public transit, and the plans that go into making those things real. In between all of that she’ll be exploring neighborhoods for Eyes on the Street.

Christine hails from small-town New Hampshire, but she’s an avid city explorer who believes that one of the best ways to get to know a city is by learning its transportation network.

As a Philly commuter, Christine splits her time on bike and transit. So if you spot her cruising Spring Garden Street on her brown Raleigh bike (look for blinky lights and a bright blue helmet) or riding the Route 2 or 43 buses say hi.
