Community Meeting: Wynn Philadelphia

Monday, April 8, 6:30pm. First Presbyterian Church, 418 East Girard Avenue. The Fishtown Neighbors Association is holding a meeting Monday evening to discuss and vote on the Wynn casino proposal for a 70-acre site along the Delaware River at Richmond and Beach streets. Fishtowners must bring proof of address to vote.

LECTURE: BUILDING PHILADELPHIA: Romantic Philadelphia

Tuesday, April 9, 6-8pm, Center for Architecture, 1218 Arch St. As part of the 10-part lecture series about the architecture, history and politics of Philadelphia, Richard Webster, West Chester University Professor Emeritus, will discuss Philadelphia’s romantic, eclecticism of style. Lecture: Pennypack Park: Restoring History and Restoring Ecology

Tuesday, April 9, 7:30pm. Historical Society of Frankford, 1507 Orthodox St. Designer John Sloan will discuss the historical and ecological significance of the Pennypack Creek area, from its industrial past to current efforts to preserve its history and improve its ecological health. Free for members, $5 donation at the door for the general public.

Debate: City Controller Democratic Candidate Debate

Thursday, April 11, 6-7:30pm. WHYY, 150 North 6th Street. Young Involved Phialdelphia, WHYY and the Committee of Seventy will host a debate between the four democratic primary candidates for City Controller: Incumbent Controller Alan Butkovitz is being challenged by Brett Mandel, Michael Williams and Mark Zecca. The primary is coming up on May 21, so hear what the candidates have to say. Free, advance registration required.
