Renowned architect and planner Sir Terry Farrell will give a lecture about his work transforming London’s skyline and the banks of the Thames. Farrell reflects on his decades in practice in his new book, Shaping London: The patterns and Forms That Make the Metropolis. Free.

Next up in  DesignPhiladelphia’s “Creating with Constraints” lecture series, urban designer Leah Murphy and exhibition designer Aaron Goldblatt will talk about building a green amenity out of abandoned rail lines stretching from Chinatown to Brewerytown. LECTURE: BUILDING PHILADELPHIA: The Victorian City

Tuesday, April 16, 6-8pm, Center for Architecture, 1218 Arch St. As part of the 10-part lecture series about the architecture, history and politics of Philadelphia, historian Jeffrey Cohen of Bryn Mawr College will discuss Victorian Philadelphia. Individual lectures cost $20, $15 for AIA and Preservation Alliance members, $10 for students/AIA Associates. Register online.
