STROLL: Finally Friday in Mt. Airy

Friday, July 26th, 4pm, Germantown Avenue in Mt. Airy. July is quickly coming to an end, and to mark its passing, Mt. Airy hosts its monthly Finally Friday event, an evening of discounts, free beer samples and artisan vendors. All along Germantown Avenue, street performers and musicians entertain guests, and a variety of craft vendors fill the space from Mt. Pleasant to Mt. Airy Avenues on Germantown Avenue. Browse everything from clothing to coffee beans. Pay as you go.

Friday July 26, 9pm-11pm. Eakins Oval, in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. As part of the summer programming at The Oval, Awesome Fest presents (kevin)Bacon Fest. Awesome Fest will show “Footloose” on the massive outdoor movie screen it has been toting around the city, and to celebrate the film’s star and his convenient last name, food trucks, pig roasts and many different kinds of bacon delicacies will be on site. DANCE: Philadelphia Dance Day

Saturday, July 27, 10am – 11:30 pm. Locations vary, main event at the Ethical Society Building, 1906 Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia, PA. Philadelphia Dance Day, a nonprofit festival featuring free dance workshops, live performances and a huge dance party, returns to Philadelphia this Saturday. The day includes events from morning till night and ranges across the city with something for people of all ages. The goal is to unite the community in celebrating dance as a platform for creative expression and physical activity. Free.

FEAST: Best of Philly Magazine Market Tour and Tasting

Saturday, July 27, 2pm, Reading Terminal Market, just inside the 12 and Filbert corner. Let PhillyMag guide you through the best eats of Reading Terminal Market. The tour will guide participants through the fascinating history and culture of Reading Terminal Market. Along the way, enjoy bite-size tastes of winning foods at eight Best of Philly merchants. The tour will end at the Market’s Rick Nicholas Room with additional Best of Philly award-winning dish samples. Participating merchants include Bassetts, Miller’s Twist, Beiler’s Bakery, Fair Food Farmstand, Metropolitan Bakery and more. Cost: General admission $19, kids 11 and younger, $13. 

HIKE: Saturday Wellness Walk

Saturday, July 27, 2pm, Schuylkill Center, 8480 Hagy’s Milly Road, Philadelphia, PA. Trade in the sweaty, confined gym for an afternoon of open skies, fresh air and friendly company. The Schuylkill Center has launched a new wellness walk series and invites everyone to take an invigorating walk in some of the area’s beautiful woods and meadows this Saturday. The walks will be led at a moderate pace, along one of the wider, more level trails. Cost: Free to members, $5 for non-members.

LISTEN: 40th Street Summer Series with The Heavens Atheist Gospel Trobmone Choir

Saturday, July 27, 6pm, 40th & Walnut Streets, Philadelphia, PA. The once-a-month summer concert series returns to 40th and Walnut Streets this Saturday with music by brass ensemble The Heavens Atheist Gospel Trombone Choir. The free, outdoor concert is part of a series that will continue through August and September. The musical nights also include activities like fire artists, face painting, jugglers and balloon art. Be on the lookout for free Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream and pretzels too! Free.

ENVY: East Passyunk Avenue 8th Annual Car Show and Street Festival

Sunday, July 28th,  Noon – 5pm, East Passyunk Avenue  between Broad & Dickinson. More than 130 cars of all types take over East Passyunk Avenue on Sunday, July 28. Food, vendors, live music and more fill five of East Passyunk Avenue’s bustling blocks. Over 130 antique, vintage, classic, muscle and custom cars, trucks and motorcycles will line 5 blocks of East Passyunk Avenue. Of course the event wouldn’t be complete without live music, vendors and street food. Free.
