August 29: Sharing the cost of bike share | Behind @SEPTA_Social | Inside Poth Brewery | PAFA to sell a Hopper

Happy Thursday, Streeters. Here’s what’s buzzing this Thursday morning.

Will Philly landowners help share the costs of the city’s forthcoming bike share system? That’s part of the goal, and Next City looks at how this model differs from other systems, which rely on big-ticket sponsors.

Our Christine Fisher profiles @SEPTA_Social, SEPTA’s customer-service oriented Twitter account. Three full-time employees tweet from @SEPTA_Social offering directions, fielding complaints (or compliments), and helping solve problems in real time.

Streets Dept went exploring one of Brewerytown’s few remaining breweries, the former Poth Brewery (most recently Red Bell) at 31st and Jefferson.

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts will sell off an Edward Hopper painting from its collection to create a new endowment to purchase art for its museum, the Philly Post reports. The Hopper painting, East Wind over Weehawken, will be sold at auction by Christie’s in New York and estimated proceeds from the sale would quintuple PAFA’s ability to acquire artworks.
