VISIT: Academy of Natural Sciences pay-what-you-wish

Friday, March 21. 10am – 4:30pm. Academy of Natural Sciences, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The Academy of Natural Sciences turns 202 this March, and to celebrate, the Academy is offering pay-what-you-wish pricing Friday. Check out signatures exhibits on butterflies, dinosaurs, dioramas and more. 

SUPPORT: Bicycle Art Benefit Auction

Saturday, March 22. 6pm – 10pm. Studio 34 Yoga Healing Arts, 4522 Baltimore Avenue. This evening of art and music will raise funds for Neighborhood Bike Works and the Bike Church. Guests are invited to bid on bike art – everything from sculpture, jewelry and clocks made with bicycle parts to paintings and prints of bicycles – and to enjoy food and live music. Suggested donation: $5-$10

APPRAISE: Antique-a-Palooza

Sunday, March 23. 10am – 4:30pm. WHYY, 150 N. 6th Street. WHYY will host a full day of antique appraisals performed by local professionals from Freeman’s Auctioneers and Appraisers. Ever wondered what your antique art, jewelry, decorative objects, books, rugs, toys, etc. are worth? Experts will be on hand to asses. Cost: $120.

TASTE: Philly Chili Bowl

Sunday, March 23. 2pm. The Ukrainian American Citizens’ Association, 847 N. Franklin Street. BigBite Philly hosts the fifth annual Philly Chili Bowl cook-off this Sunday. Twenty-five participants will cook up special recipes for a panel of chefs, critics and chili connoisseurs.  Cost: $15

CREATE: Kids’ art series at Morris Arboretum

Sunday, March 23. 1pm – 2:45pm. Morris Arboretum, 100 E. Northwestern Avenue. This Sunday kicks off a new four-week art series for children ages 6-9. The series will help children look to nature for creative inspiration. Each week, children will go on a short walk to observe and draw from nature. Then they will go inside to print, build and design. Cost: $100 for members, $110 for nonmembers
