This week promises chances for park inspiration, mobile chow, and biking with the Mayor. 

TALK: ParkX: Inspiring People in the Parks

Monday, May 12, 7:30-9:30pm. Yards Brewing Company, 901 North Delaware Ave. Hoist a beer and listen to stories about projects, ideas, and inspiration in the form of 5-minute talks from interesting park users. Speakers include Kim Alsbrooks, creator of the Handmade Map of Fairmount Park; Nic Esposito from PowerCorps PHL; Michael Froelich and Zora of Zora Plays, and more. Free with registration. $10 donation suggested to benefit Fairmount Park Conservancy, includes free beer ticket.

DISCOVER: The New Fairmount Park

Tuesday, May 13, 6-8pm. Smith Memorial Playground, 3500 Reservoir Drive. Join Parks and Recreation, Fairmount Park Conservancy, Parks and Recreation Commission, and PennPraxis for the launch of a new vision for Philadelphia’s treasured East and West Fairmount Park. Learn about key ideas and take a walk with project leaders to explore ideas in the plan. Free. Register online.

CHOW: Night Market: Old City

Thursday, May 15, 6-10pm. Around 3rd and Arch streets. The Food Trust’s movable neighborhood feast returns for the summer with a stop in Old City with 85+ vendors, from favorite food trucks to area restaurants like Han Dynasty, Amada, and Franklin Fountain. Historic attire encouraged. Pay as you chow.

ROLL: Bike to work day with Mayor Nutter

Friday, May 16, meet at 7:30am, depart at 8:15am. Meet at Lloyd Hall (1 Boathouse Row) If you want to go beyond just riding your bike on Bike to Work Day, join Mayor Nutter and Philly cycling advocates for a ceremonial bike ride from Boathouse Row to LOVE Park. Light breakfast provided. All are welcome.
