Bicycle Transit Systems (Bike Transit) is a national leader in urban bike share implementation & operations. Bike Transit seeks an Independent Contractor to serve as an Implementation Specialist to lead a spring/early summer 2017 expansion of the Indego bike share system in Philadelphia. This is a temporary position reporting to the Indego Operations Manager. This person will be the primary point of contact for all steps between initial concept and final installation of up to 30 bike share stations. Primary tasks will include: client communication; site visits and site plan development; support of equipment procurement, delivery and installation schedules; and managing the project timeline, benchmarks, and deliverables to ensure successful station installation. The Implementation Specialist must quickly become expert in identifying requirements for station locations including: solar and power management considerations, cellular network connectivity and operational feasibility. Successful candidates will have strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent multi-tasking abilities. Work will be based at the Bicycle Transit facility in South Kensington, and requires substantial time in the field conducting site visits at various sites across Philadelphia.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage all aspects of system expansion, leading tasks including but not limited to:

  • Develop and adhere to project timeline for installation of up to 30 additional Indego bike share stations by early June 2017; coordinate communication between City of Philadelphia client, equipment provider and Bike Transit local staff and client to ensure timeline is followed;
  • Coordinate with Bike Transit team and City of Philadelphia to identify potential station sites for optimal utilization;
  • Collaborate with Bike Transit Operations team to ensure stations are installed to optimize power management and minimize operational impact;
  • Analyze options, recommend, and support procurement of cellular data plans for new stations;
  • Design and edit site concepts & final plans; coordinate approvals with relevant parties including City of Philadelphia, local property owners, agencies etc.;
  • Coordinate with local marketing team to ensure creation, review and approval of graphics, maps, advertising and logo placement at each new station;
  • Implement, refine and document best practices for new station implementation;
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety policies and procedures;
  • Maintain strong client and vendor relations;
  • Ensure overall success and future growth of Indego.

Requirements

  • Experience and/or college degree in either business administration, engineering, transportation or related field with a high preference for project management experience.
  • Graphic design or layout software skills or experience (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, SketchUp or similar.)
  • Experience with online mapping including ArcGIS Online.
  • Familiarity with electrical/solar power systems design or project management.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to identify priorities and focus on critical tasks.
  • Experience working with government, businesses, and/or non-profits.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (no major violation in the past 5 years; no more than 2 minor in the past 3 years).
  • Passion for bikes, efficiency, or sustainability a plus.
