The American Swedish Historical Museum is the oldest Swedish-American museum in the United States.
Located at South Broad Street and Oregon Avenue, the plaza was originally designed by the architects Olmsted Brothers in 1914–1916 and was built as the grand entrance for the 1926 Sesquicentennial
Passyunk, spelled in old deeds and records Perslajingh, Passayunk, Passyonck, Passajon, Passajungh, Passaming and Paisajungh, the name of a Native American village.

Change is coming to Point Breeze, and the battle lines are being drawn. Zoning meetings are ground zero for this contested neighborhood’s disputes, and the process does nothing to reduce mounting tensions or create real dialogue. Eyes on the Street went to Monday night’s meeting to listen in.

West Park plan calls for beefed-up and concentrated commercial corridors with new mixed-use development on 52nd Street and Lancaster Avenue and Parkside avenues. Lower South plan calls for improved highway and transit access, more housing for seniors and families, and better connections to FDR Park and the riverfronts.


CDAG members say city council should not pass any zoning change legislation for individual waterfront parcels, and the ZBA should go easy on variances, until the waterfront master plan and new overlay are in place.
