Roxborough, once the Roxborough Township, is a North West Philadelphia neighborhood. The neighborhood spans from Northwestern Avenue to Lincoln Drive and from the Schuykill River to Henry Avenue. It is thought that the neighborhood was named after Roxburgshire, an area in Scotland. Roxborough has long been a predominantly white neighborhood, with the commercial spine of the neighborhood being Ridge Avenue running diagonally through the neighborhood. Roxborough maintains its reputation as being a safe and well-maintained area thanks to efforts from residents and community organizations. Roxborough’s tree lined streets give the neighborhood a suburban feel, while the areas low crime rate and accessibility make the neighborhood and ideal home for many young professional Philadelphians.
