Penn Treaty ParkPrint Page

Look past the industrial buildings that line Fishtown and cross Delaware Avenue, and you will find Philadelphia’s only true waterfront park.  Located at the foot of Columbia (Cecil B. Moore) Avenue, Penn Treaty Park is a true gem in a city with many exemplary green spaces.  In 1976, it was dedicated as the traditional site of a treaty between William Penn and the Native Americans Lenne Lenapes. Though there is no physical evidence of this treaty, the City maintains this park “in commemoration of [Penn’s] peaceful relations with the Indians.”  Its two acres are defined by an immaculate stretch of rolling lawn and an unobstructed transition into the Delaware River. People come to Penn Treaty Park to walk their dog, play on the swing set, or just to eat their lunch and admire the view.
