APA Advocate: Funding breakdown for federal FY10 budget

The White House has released to Congress a proposed $3.7 trillion budget for fiscal year 2010. The budget outlines a 9.7 percent spending increase, but cuts or eliminates 121 programs funded in FY 2009.
Several agencies of interest to planners received new or additional funds in the proposal. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) would receive an increase of $7.4 billion, including more for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and new funds for the Sustainable Communities Initiative and the Energy Innovation Fund.
