Kiki Bolender, AIA, LEED AP, is a partner at Schade and Bolender Architects, a full service architecture and interior design firm.  She is chair of the Design Advocacy Group of Philadelphia and is a member of the People’s Editorial Board of the Daily News.  She co-created an advisory project on citizen involvement for the Zoning Code Commission and presented green building principles to the Commission on behalf of the American Institute of Architects Philadelphia Chapter.  She is an instructor of Zoning History and Reform in Philadelphia for the Citizens’ Planning Institute of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission 

 

She served as an invited design professional and civic engagement moderator for the Penn Praxis Central Delaware Riverfront planning process, and has worked on other civic engagement projects with the Philadelphia Inquirer, WHYY and the Penn Project for Civic Engagement.  She is a member of the Advisory Board of Design of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority.  With Rachel Schade, she guest edited the Industry issue of Context, the magazine of AIA Philadelphia.  She served as a juror for the Kendeda Fund Sustainable Home Competition in Atlanta.  She is a LEED Accredited Professional, and is registered to practice in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

 

Ms. Bolender grew up in a small town in Arizona.  After Occidental College in Los Angeles and five years in Toronto, she moved to New York City, where she received her graduate degree from Columbia University. She and her husband, architect Charles Capaldi, live in Center City, where their three grown daughters attended the Philadelphia public schools.
